Adam McKay, who wrote and directedAnchorman and is currently writing the sequel with Will Ferrell, did some script work on The Dictator so this move would make sense. Moreover, McKay tweeted the following earlier today:

“See the Dictator (I worked on it and it’s crazy funny), in addition to Campaign trailer with Zach and Will there’s another treat before it.”

By Odin’s beard, it appears this teaser is all but confirmed. Here’s what our source had to say about the teaser:

“Just got out of a screening of The Dictator. There is an Anchorman 2 teaser attached featuring the Channel 4 news team (minus Veronica) stating how excited they are to return… a concept that Brick seems to have a hard time with. Also, not sure if it was an official title or more of a slogan but the screen title readAnchorman: The Legend Continues followed by ’2013′”

Part-time Marshfield resident Steve Carell is set to begin filming the dysfunctional family dramedy “The Way, Way Back” in Massachusetts in June. Rumor has it, part of the flick will be shot in Marshvegas.

The film, which reunites Carell with “Little Miss Sunshine” co-star Toni Collette, is an indie from the Oscar-winning “The Descendants” scribes Jim Rash and Nat Faxon in their directorial debut. Co-starring Sam Rockwell, Allison Janney and Annasophia Robb, the movie tells the story of a teenage boy on summer vacation and his struggle in coming to grips with a mother (Collette) who’s distant and a father (Carell) who’s a cad.

Carell has a pair of flicks opening later this year. In “Hope Springs,” Carell plays marriage counselor to Oscar-winner Meryl Streep and Tomm Lee Jones. Before that he shares the screen with Keira Knightley in “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World,” opening June 22.

As Vulture reported last week, Steve Carell and Jake Johnson are teaming up for a mob comedy to be directed by Max Winkler. Details on the story line have been kept mostly mum, but at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of The Five-Year Engagement, we got some scoop from co-writer/producer Rodney Rothman: “That’s a comedy basically about the rise of a small-town mafia,” he told us.

“It’s about a group of people who decide to start a mafia, totally fictional, but it’s the origin story of a mafia. It’s not Goodfellas, it’s not The Godfather, it’s not set in the usual place, and they’re not ethnically based — they’re not Irish, Italian, Russian, whatever. At some point, every mafia, someone has to say, ‘Hey, let’s start a mafia!’ So that’s kind of what the movie is about. They’re just people in a small town who are feeling powerless and down on themselves.” The appeal, he adds, is that “the mafia story is part of the mythology of our country.” And he assures us that Carell will be funny in it. “He’ll be hilarious. He’s kind of playing his own version of Michael Corleone. We just started to write that, so we’ll probably be shooting that early next year.”
