What Steve Carell Really Loves About Mark Wahlberg

For seven seasons, he presided over The Office, killing it weekly as the bumbling, do-nothing boss man Michael Scott. As it turns out, Steve Carell can also be a tyrant when it comes to food. For starters, if there’s a trend he’d like to quash, it’s food on sticks. “From cheesecake on a stick to meat skewers to deep-fried bananas on a stick–there are no plates anymore,” he says with a smile. “In Los Angeles, everything has become a corn dog. Actually, corn dogs still work. But most other food should be stickless.” Also on warning? Gummy worms. “What kind of person would have a real craving for gummy worms?” he wonders. Point taken.

We’re used to Carell assaulting our funny bones, but this summer he aims for our hearts with two new, serious-ish dramas: Hope Springs, in which he plays a marriage counselor to a troubled Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones, and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, where he’s a lost soul on an end-of-days road trip. Which got us thinking: What would Steve Carell’s last meal on earth be? We knew the answer would be funny. We just didn’t expect it to involve Mark Wahlberg.

Steve Carell’s Last Meal on Earth:
“A cheeseburger, fries, and a shake from Wahlburgers, which is owned by Mark Wahlberg and his brothers Donnie and Paul. That burger holds up against all others.”
